I was truly amazed over this weekend when I sat down to read my diary of the past 6 months. I have been writing one since 2008. I don’t put my thoughts down every day, just occasionally. I add in things that I need to deal with – such as fears and limitations- , interesting dreams or experiences that happen to me and major achievements in my life.
If I had to suggest one thing to all of my coach clients it would be: Diary Writing!!! You will learn so much from your own thoughts, that it will truly amaze you!
Here’s the 3 most amazing benefits of diary writing:
1) Facing your own life!
Writing a diary is the most effective tool of self-discovery. Since you write your thoughts down, you get to face whatever is in your life today. Everything that makes you happy and also your fears, limitations, beliefs, barriers.
You will start to see more clearly, be mindful and this will lead to improvement in your life! You will understand how you work, what motivates you and what is holding you back!
2) Keeping track of your accomplishments!
Since you put your thoughts and life on a piece of paper, it will be a mirror for you and you will be able to keep track of your accomplishments as well. It can still surprise me, after years of diary writing, how fast things change. What was a problem a month ago is long solved! Of course new challenges come, but that’ s what makes life so interesting! It’s rare that we make a list of things we achieved and say : “Hey, I amazing for doing this or that”, well, a diary serves that purpose as well!
3) Positive transformation!
You will notice after a while how mindful you become and that you start to transform your life into the direction of your dreams! The more you read your thoughts: what is limiting you and what makes you happy, the more you will push your life into a direction that is good for you!
Here’s how you should start:
1, Get your diary! Select a notebook that makes you feel good!
2, Take 5 minutes at the end of each day to write down what you feel is important using the following questions. Once this becomes automatic, you can decrease the frequency of writing.
- What made me happy and satisfied today?
- What are my negative thoughts and fears?
- What are they trying to tell me?
3, Read back your diary each month! Look at things that you wrote:
- Is there anything that you already solved or accomplished?
- Do you feel different?
- What has changed in the past month?
- Is there anything else you could do to feel better?
I truly hope you will have life changing revelations from your diary and it helps you learn more about yourself! Get your notebook today!
You don’t have time to waste, life is beautiful, start to live it the way You really want it Today!
