“Always, Always have a plan!” Rick Riordan
Every time I had a new business idea in my head all my mentors suggested me to start with a detailed business plan. I tried to succeed without putting too much effort into it but unfortunately they were all right! In the last few years I have put together a bunch of business plans for growing my promotional agency and also for my publishing company. I wasn’t really good at writing them but after the third one, it got easier, I could see my goals and strategy more clearly.
Last week I was working on a new one. I was pretty proud of myself and my business planning skills, as I was much more effective then I used to be in the past. Most of the plans I stated actually turned out great and my companies went into the direction I’ve planned, I achieved my goals, the strategies I used were right and I was really happy with my profits. I truly think that the success lies within the planning process: analysing the current situation, resources, setting the right goals and achieving them with the right strategies in order to make profit.
This made me think:
Wouldn’t it be great to have a simple business plan template for my own Life?
Which I could use the same way to realise profit in my personal life? I just have to define the right goals, the most effective ways of reaching them and see what I want to gain from it as profit.
So I decided to make one, which I am sharing with you now!
3 steps of a simple business plan template for your happy life:
1) Set Your Goals!
“Believing in your goals is the First step to achieving them!”
Start by setting realistic goals for yourself, which are attractive to you and set timelines linked to it. It’s key that you are able to measure success, so make sure you clearly define what you really want!
Example: I want to lose 15 pounds in 3 months.
2) Define Your Strategy!
“A goal without a strategy is just a wish.” Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
The strategy is the direction you go to in order to have the best chance achieving your goals. If defining your goals answered the question of ‘what you want’, strategy is telling you ‘how to achieve them’.
Example: I want to lose 15 pounds in 3 months so I will decrease my calorie intake to 1200. I will go to the gym 4 times each week and drink half gallon of water every day! I will stick this plan on my fridge, so I can influence and motivate myself everyday!
3) Determine Profitability!
What is the definition of profit in your Life? It is the benefit that comes from the time you spent on achieving your goals. Happiness, health, friends, self-confidence, family, a purpose, which everyone can define for themselves! It is the best outcome of Your Business Plan.
Example: If I lose 15 pounds in 3 months I will feel more healthy, fit and beautiful. I will be more confident and even love myself better. I will feel happier and more energetic which will have an effect on my entire life!
